3. Skaion Synthetic Internet Documentation

Skaion’s Synthetic Internet (SI) is a suite of servers and services to provide any environment with the appearance of a large number of sites.

It uses stock servers, and listens on many many addresses to give the appearance of a multitude of servers, even though only a single machine is used.

Web Services are provided by Apache using many VirtualHosts, FTP is provided by vsftpd, DNS is provided by bind, email is provided by a combination of sendmail and dovecot.

All of the services are configured to automatically start on boot. There are no additional steps required to start any components of the SI.
